The following organisations from KL & Penang were selected to be part of the 3 beneficiaries for this Charity Event : 1) H.O.C - 慈善之心 (a group of volunteers) to support and provide living assistance to 300 elderly. 2) Children’s Heart Association of Malaysia (CHARM) to help poor families pay for heart surgery. 3) SIN CHEW DAILY (NORTHEN EDITION) initiates a project to target to raise MYR20K of funds to buy books and provide education support to 4-5 Rural Primary Schools. We have the honor of having YB Chia Song Cheng, Member of Senate at Jabatan Perdana Menteri to flag off the start of our journey to Penang at Bukit Indah. After travelling close to about 700km, Sports Car Club (Singapore), GTR Owners' Club (Singapore) and Malaysia Singapore Super Car Club (MSSCC), jointly came together with a total of 48 cars to this Sunny Island Penang at Juru AutoCity on 17 June 2017 with a HUGE Heart for this Charity! We were very privileged to have Guest-of-Honour Penang Commissioner Datuk Wira Chuah Ghee Lye (2nd from left) and Seblang Ply Tengah OCPD Nik Ros Azhan (left) to conduct the flag-off ceremony from Juru AutoCity. Datuk Wira Chuah addresses in his speech that he appreciates SMSC for spending time and effort to conduct this charity and contribute to the society. He wishes all participants a safe journey, not forgetting to observe traffic regulations and enjoy the good food while in Penang. A school visit to SKJC Eok Hua Teluk Bahang was arranged by Sin Chew Daily whereby part of the donation of 20K collected will be awarded to 5 rural schools in Penang. Sin Chew acknowledged that for good education, the children must have more variety of books in their library. Hence the donation will fund the schools to buy new books for these students' libraries. The cheque presentation was held after the school visit and guests included sponsors and participants at ParkRoyal Hotel. During the ceremony, 3 beneficiary organisations were invited on stage to receive a mock cheque for the sum of RM72,672 collected from this event. The ceremony ended with a toast to all participants from Singapore & Malaysia for surpassing the initial target of 70K which was met with rousing applause from the audience! Above is the breakdown of monies collected from the charity shown during the Gala Dinner. Prior to this event, SMSC receives the donation cheque of RM15,000 from Mr Wang Bo Cheng, representative of Forest City, during the Handing Over Cheque Ceremony held on 11th June 2017 on behalf of Sin Chew. This Charity Event is proudly sponsored by the above companies. Thank you for helping to make this event a grand and successful one!
