1) Why the chosen ride? I was deciding between the BMW E92 M3 and the Alfa Romeo Brera 3.2 V6 before setting my mind on the Alfa Romeo Brera. I have always been a fan on the aesthetics of the Alfa Romeo. It is fierce, wild and you will never get bored over its looks! Dad owns a BMW E60 M5, which made me decided to try out another marque. 2) A brief on yourself and your outlook in life, family, career I hold an Accounts Executive position in a U.S. MNC, focusing on Telecom software solutions. Besides my day job, I run a tyre business together with my parents. My passion in motorsports started when I was 5-6 years old. Back then, I was brought to Kallang Car Park Rally where my father took part in car races. In the eyes of the majority, Dads are usually the key influence when it comes to motorsports. Mine was no exception though it was really my Mom, who encouraged and licensed me to pursue my passion in motorsports. From then on, I never once looked back. On a regular basis, I would be involved with car-related activities such as tracking, go-karting, breakfast meets, road-trips to Malaysia and social gatherings with like-minded friends. Sadly, I will be missing from the car scene soon to serve National Service 3) What do you think of our local car scene?
I’ve been a member of SCCS since the year it was established. As a member, I’ve made a lot of friends and picked up valuable knowledge from the people in the club. With launches and meets running frequently, the local car scenes are still pretty active. However, it’ll help the local car scene if we have more motorsport events other than the annual Formula 1 race. 4) How did you come to hear of SCCS? Previously, I was a member of the BMW.SG and VAGSG group. Through one of the meetups organised by BMW.SG, I met Alvin. He told me about SCCS and I decided to join the group to meet more like-minded friends. Prior to SCCS, I was with VAGSG when I had the Volkswagen Scirocco R. Lets hear the man out...
K: "A brief on yourself, please." A: "I run the SEA operation for a Japanese Electronics MNC. Apart from traveling and golf, activities relating to my ride made up of a big part of my life. These activities are road trips to Malaysia, tracking, breakfast runs, supper meet-ups, car related events, charity events and car group gatherings." K: " Why the chosen ride?" A: "It is a combination of lifestyle, classic, sport, good handling ,fun on track and lastly, it’s my first roadster. I was shopping for a Lotus Elise but when I saw this ride coming into the market, I was the first to view and secured it after the test drive." K: "What do you think of our local car scene?" A: "As a member of SCCS, Z car group and Saabstance, I am very fortunate to have a very big network of friends and bros. We share the same passion for cars, coffee and cakes. I considered the local car scene to be very active, responsible and contributing to the larger community. The National Day Night Drive shows the unity of car groups in Singapore. SCCS has held and supported many charitable causes and I am proud to be part of Club." K: "How did you come to hear of SCCS?" A: "As an active member in Saabstance, I organized several road trips in the past and I enjoyed it so much that I started searching for other car groups and I found SCCS link and contacted Rose". Driving has always been my passion and I remembered vividly, the two inner most desires I had while growing up. One was to get my driver's license as soon as I turned 18 and the other, first to be seated at the front passenger side before anyone else in the family, so I could be Dad's co-pilot while he drove. That said, there is one seat that would find me more than familiar. Though it's no longer in existence, I had one seat all to myself playing "Daytona USA" at the Arcade after school.
When I gotten my driver's license, it was understood within the family that whenever Dad's home in the evenings, it would be Edward's time to drive solo. In 2009, I saved enough to buy a 2 litre turbo charged Audi TT. Though It wasn’t love at first sight but through the winding back roads of Malaysia to the beaches of Krabi in Thailand, we found solace in each other's company. These days, wherever the road takes me, my TT follows. I joined SCCS when we were just a small group of car enthusiasts, meeting regularly for local town drives. I started as an obsever before committing myself to the role of merchandising and now, as Director, Brand Management for the Club. Over the last 5 years, one thing has remained unchanged at our Club and that's change, itself. As a young membership based organisation, SCCS is like a 5 year old child learning to straddle between walk and run. With all our hearts in the right places and to grow professionally as a Car Club, we need talented and committed individuals on board SCCS. Driven solely by passion, I've never once regretted taking that first step, to be an observer for the Club. You'll be surprised at how much more there is to learn, when you have to walk, fall and run all over again. Come join us because with SCCS, you'll never drive alone. I've been part of the Big SCCS family since it's founding days and through the years, made many friends here at our Club.
I love top down driving in my sand white Bentley GTC, be it early in the morning, midday or late at night. The GTC is luxurious, powerful and most certainly, one spirited drive. As Director of Memberships, I look forward to organizing an array of family and social oriented events/activities for our Members and their love ones. My name is Desmond and I drive a Toyota MRS.
This is my 4th year since joining the Club. I enjoy organizing and participating in group drives or convoy driving, as we call it. My role as Convoy Leader is to lead, maintain and convoy our Club Members safely, from one point to another. I am also a huge fan of automotive photography and if you like to know the best locations for photo shoots, please drop me an EMAIL Over the span of my 3 year ownership with Spyder, she has gotten a complete makeover every year. The latest, suited up in ironman theme. Thanks to my passionate team of designers, the changes made each year were most impressionable and guess what? Kids love the Ironman on Spyder. I am also the President of our humble MRS Club in Singapore and I will be more than happy to share my knowledge of MRS with you. At our Club, one will be surprised by the friendliness and down to earth attitude of our Members, regardless of car makes. When we come together, we are one head turner of a Sports Car Club to be reckoned with. See you at our next event! Yours truly, Desmond Lee Someone we would consider an esteemed Member of SCCS.
He has kindly agreed to share his personal blog HERE. Our pleasure to introduce him in this video by CLUTCHED! - "My name is Norman and I drive a Honda S2000" Hi, I'm Albert Lee, the "Mata" or the Ombudsman of the Club.
Anyone who misbehaves especially during a convoy, I will either walk up to you or shout right into the walkie talkie at you, to prevent you from hurting others by your irresponsible act...just joking but that's what Matas do :) I'm known as YoungBert because I am the youngest among the Alberts in SCCS, the other two are Albert Liang and Albert Tay. I am also the Vice President of GT-RocS. My ride isnt the coolest of all rides but definitely, the fastest "Ah beng" ride, the Nissan GT-R R35, known for its beastly abilities for riding like one. Even Adam is afraid when I'm behind the wheels. LOL... What I love about this ride? It speeds like a beast and I love speed. That should sum up what you need to know about me. Yes, I'm married but available. Don't get me wrong. Available for kopi only, cheers!!! Albert Lee aka Mata signing off Specialising in motor insurance, I have gained extensive knowledge and experience in the automotive industry for more than a decade.
Over the past twelve years, to gain indepth knowledge on auto-mechanics, I've invested vast amount of time learning from the best. The insights gained, have widened my perspectives on assessing conditions of vehicles that were involved in road accidents. My passion?...I love track driving and since 2005, I have been to every track events organised at Sepang. When I am track driving, I transcend into a world where it's just me and my ride, exploring the limitations of self and steel. In November 2011, together with my team, Sports Car Club (Singapore) was founded, registered and officiated as a Society. For more online features of me: Oneshift Racing Rose |
